(senior) ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

For our client, a reputable design & engineering company of mobile offshore units and equipment, we are looking for a (senior) ELECTRICAL ENGINEER to reinforce the team.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will utilize your technical knowledge and professional experience to support the delivery of the Company’s products to their customers. Acting under the guidance of technical project management, the role requires technical solutions and detail designing of products throughout all phases of a project lifecycle from proposals to completion (including site installation and commissioning).

Tasks & Responsibilities

You'll be contributing to projects as a team member, mainly by design and engineering, analysis and verification. You'll also be responsible for the design, engineering and technical coordination of the assigned work Scope (systems, equipment, package) - working in line with applicable rules, regulations, classifications, standards and Quality Assurance procedures. They'll also look to you to develop best practices, work methods and standards for continuous improvement, ensuring all deliverables are technically in accordance with system requirements. Attending internal design review meetings, being aware of commercial implications and more are all part of what you'll be doing day to day.

Requirements

• You'll need to be able to design, engineer and set up an AC distribution and Drive systems, also verify distribution designs by means of power studies (harmonics analysis, voltage drop, arc flash, load flow, power swings, protection and coordination).
• They'd also like you to have detailed experience with writing specifications for electrical distribution and drive systems equipment and have attended / witness FAT’s for switchgear, motor control centers etc.
• Experience of optimising the drive train system components (Transformers, filters, rectifiers, inverters, motors) is also something they're looking for. If you're able to advise on cable routing to mechanical routing engineers, that would be great!
• Knowledge of carrying out interface management for secondary systems (HVAC, AOL, sliprings etc) & being able to specify the system requirement (specification for auxiliary systems CCTV, AOL, lighting).

Qualifications & special skills

• BSc in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Within the offshore, maritime and/or energy industry (essential)
• Proficiency in English
• Experience with ETAP/SKM Powertools or Matlab Simpowersystems would be preferred.
